Apni Zameen Apna Ghar – Apply for Free Plots in Punjab (2025 Guide)

Apni Zameen Apna Ghar is a newly launched housing initiative by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The program offers free 3-marla plots to deserving and homeless citizens across Punjab, aiming to provide shelter to those most in need. This is a significant step forward following the success of the earlier Apni Chhat Apna Ghar project, which helped thousands of families build their own homes.

🌐 Online Portal Now Open

CM Maryam Nawaz officially launched the e-portal at azag.punjab.gov.pk, allowing eligible applicants to submit their requests online. During the launch event, she activated the digital platform herself, marking the beginning of a historic housing initiative.

🏠 Free Plots in 23 Housing Schemes

The government will distribute 2,000 free plots across 23 housing schemes located in 19 districts. These include Jhelum, Pattoki, Lodhran, Renala Khurd, and Mamun Kanjan. Each plot is 3 marlas in size and allocated based on strict eligibility criteria to ensure fairness.

πŸ”¨ Housing Access for the Underserved

This program isn’t just about giving land. It’s about empowering low-income families to become homeowners. Over 34,000 houses are currently under construction, with 300 new homes being built daily. In just six months, 2,000 houses have already been completed, showing the program’s fast progress.

πŸ’° Interest-Free Loans for Construction

Under Apni Zameen Apna Ghar, selected applicants will also receive interest-free loans to help them construct their homes. These loans will be repaid in easy monthly installments, making homeownership affordable even for those with minimal income.

According to Punjab Housing Minister Bilal Yasin, the government has allocated Rs. 36 billion in loans to assist 33,500 beneficiaries with construction expenses.

🎯 Priority for the Most Vulnerable

In the first phase of the scheme, the following groups will receive priority:

  • Widows
  • Orphans
  • Persons with disabilities
  • Daily wage workers

✅ Who Can Apply?

To be eligible for the Apni Zameen Apna Ghar scheme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a permanent resident of Punjab
  • Should not own any property in Pakistan
  • Must be registered with the National Socio-Economic Registry (NSER)
  • Monthly household income must be less than Rs. 50,000

πŸ“ How to Apply

You can apply through two methods:

  1. Online via the official e-portal: azag.punjab.gov.pk
  2. In person at your local Deputy Commissioner’s office, where dedicated help desks are set up to guide applicants.

Applicants are encouraged to apply early to avoid missing out on available plots.

πŸ“’ Final Thoughts

Apni Zameen Apna Ghar is more than a housing project—it’s a lifeline for thousands of families across Punjab. With free plots, zero-interest loans, and government-backed construction support, this program opens the door to homeownership for many who once thought it impossible.
